I have insurance. I saw Dr. Blount once. The reason for my visit was to ask what can I do for my stiff thumb. I injured it a couple months before and I wanted to know how long It would take to heal. I spoke to him maybe 5 minutes. He barely even looked at my hand. But he was nice enough. He asked if I lived nearby I said yes. He told me that his office works closely with some of the best physical therapists and conveniently they are near his office/my home. He said he couldn't''t really diagnose what was going on with my thumb adding that perhaps I had a little arthritis. He said most of us do. He told me that his office will recommend me one of these great physical therapists. I was happy. Okay. Then I left empty handed with no referral. When I got home I called Dr. Blount's office to find out which physical therapist I should go to. The woman on the other end told me she couldn't tell me because the Dr. had not yet given her my notes regarding my visit. She said after she receives his notes she will mail that information to me. About a week later I received a letter from his office stating that I need physical therapy. No reference, nothing. So for nothing, truly nothing, the bill sent to insurance was $307. Insurance company discounted it down to $214.27. I have gone to other hand specialists in North Scottsdale who gave me an injection and that visit cost much less than that.

I have full use, with full range of motion, and unnoticeable scarring of my right hand, following surgery with Dr. Blount. I was able to go back to work on the Monday following surgery on Friday. Dr. Blount is not only a gifted surgeon, he is a kind and considerate man. I recommend him to anyone who is needing surgery and full use of their dominant wrist/hand.
